The City in 2050: The "New"Public Private Partnership and Urban Competitiveness

In recent years the public/private partnership has become increasingly important as cities around the world work to spur redevelopment, accommodate urban growth, and define strategies to pay for upgrades to costly infrastructure. As we move toward 2050, public and private roles in the development process will continue to evolve in new and complex ways, as the public sector takes on more responsibility for large scale development projects needed to accommodate growth. Development professionals, investors, and public officials will confront new challenges and find new opportunities when seeking to balance market pressures with public policy goals. Cities that most effectively define and leverage this "new partnership" now will be best positioned to compete in the 21st century.
